Car insurance

A Story About Car Insurance
I was recently amazed how much the cost of my car insurance could be reduced just by
calling round for quotes. I don’t normally phone around for quotes in case I get called a
cheapskate or timewaster or quote collector (a hangover from my earlier days as a
salesman), but these companies seem to expect it as normal. This all came about when I had
a new tyre fitted at a tyre fitting company, a couple of days after I had been there I received a
phone call from their customer service department asking if I was satisfied with their service
(I said yes) and then I was asked if I wanted a car insurance quote when the time came to
renew it - I said okay but was barely interested.
Some months later when my insurance was due for renewal I had a call from the same
company who took some details and automatically connected me to a car insurer for a quote
- they happily gave me a quote which was cheaper than my renewal notice from my existing
insurer. The tyre company called me back a couple of minutes later and again connected me
to another insurer who provided an even cheaper quote, the same procedure want on
another 3 times until I was given a quote of nearly half of my original renewal quote - which I
then bought.
I had no idea how much these insurers are fighting each other for our business and will just
keep cutting their quotes to get you signed up. Of course later when you again need to renew
your car insurance, their prices will slowly creep up.
I thought I would share this tip in case, as I was, you are one of those people who
automatically say yes to their existing car insurer each year when receiving a renewal notice.
